FORT WORTH, Texas — Innovative technology and high-performance shaft designs have a knack for winning and the all-new Proforce AXIVCore graphite shaft, designed and manufactured by UST (United Sports Technologies®), dominated the field at this weekend’s RBC Canadian Open. The victory marked the second straight Canadian Open title for UST and spotlighted the shaft manufacturer’s newest technological advancement — AXIV technology.
The PGA Tour’s first rookie winner of 2008 breezed through the course and birdied 16 of the 44 par-4s — the most under-par scores recorded on par 4s at the Canadian Open in a quarter of the century. The Canadian Open champion played a Titleist driver with a Proforce AXIVCore 79-gram graphite shaft, the all-new shaft design that delivered superior stability, accuracy and power down the stretch. The champion finished the week tied for fourth in driving accuracy, hitting well over 80 percent of fairways the first two rounds.
Although the new Proforce AXIVCore Series graphite shaft is not yet available to the public, the AXIV technology — which incorporates a single-ply of carbon fiber material woven in four directions to optimize torque, stiffness, feel and control — has been a proven winner on the PGA Tour. Located in the butt section of the shaft, AXIV technology provides stability and consistent shaft recovery that resists deformation at impact and then restoring the shaft to its normal shape more efficiently than other shaft on the market.
“The new Proforce AXIVCore shaft provides amazing stability and instills players with a feeling of confidence that enables them to hit more fairways, and we saw a terrific example of that at this weekend’s Canadian Open,” says Jim McIntosh, tour representative for UST. “Some shaft manufacturers continue try to confuse golfers with new options that simply amount to new color or fancier label, but UST continues to push the envelope with truly innovative technology. The AXIV technology uses an exotic substance that is the most ingenious material in graphite shaft production today.”
UST Proforce AXIVCore shafts are scheduled for availability to consumers in November 2008.
