FORT WORTH, Texas — This weekend’s Chrysler Championship and the Nationwide Tour Championship events provided ‘icing on the cake’ for United Sports Technologies® (UST®) graphite shafts which have enjoyed tremendous success on professional tours this year. Coming off back-to-back wins on the PGA Tour and touting its position as one of the top shaft manufacturers, having won the total wood shaft brand count twice in September, UST graphite shafts captured four more Top 10 finishes during the season-ending tournaments.
At the Chrysler Championship, the second-place winner who had recently installed a premium Harmon Tour Design® (HTD®) shaft in his driver achieved his best finish of the 2004 season, a statistical victory that moved him to the 40th position among the Tour money leaders and qualifying him for the 2005 Masters. In play this week, UST’s high performance graphite shafts were led by 17 HTD shafts, 15 ACCRA premium shafts, 10 Proforce® shafts and 9 IROD® hybrid shafts.
Meanwhile, there was tough competition at the Nationwide Tour Championship, where the Top 60 money leaders fought for 20 exemptions on the PGA Tour. UST tallied three more Top 10 finishes at the event, and received a huge vote of confidence from the second-place overall money leader on the Nationwide Tour who used an IROD® hybrid utility shaft in his fairway wood and utility club to earn his 2005 Tour card.
“UST applauds the preparation and hard work it takes to achieve status on the PGA Tour, and we are pleased with the acceptance and performance of UST-branded shafts,” says Gene Simpson, vice president of sales and marketing for UST brands. “We look forward to continuing our support to those making it to the regular tour and for those playing the Nationwide Tour in 2005.”
