European Tour win is the first for the company’s all-new international series shaft, ATTAS
FORT WORTH, Texas — August 28, 2009 — In a tightly contested tournament that resulted in the winner sinking an 18-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a sudden death playoff, this year’s winner trusted the superior quality and performance of UST Mamiya ATTAS shafts in his Nike driver and fairway wood to rally from six strokes behind the 54-hole leader, and equal the course record with a dazzling seven under par 63 for a 15 under total of 265 that matched the lowest of the European Tour season.
“This week’s champion just recently made the switch to the ATTAS Series with obviously good results,” said Stuart Smith, European tour representative for UST Mamiya. “The champion’s impressive come-from-behind win can be attributed to him hitting 81 percent of the fairways and averaging 299 yards for the week.”
The soon-to-be-released ATTAS Series was developed as a collaborative effort between the company’s Japanese and U.S.-based design team, and is a reflection of the company’s global commitment to creating the “world’s finest carbon fiber graphite shafts” by focusing on delivering the best quality, performance and feel. More information on the product features will be available upon the product launch in the coming weeks.
However, one of the technologies incorporated into the ATTAS is the company’s exclusive AXIV material. AXIV technology is the process of weaving specific high-modulus carbon fibers in the critical four axis directions necessary in shaft design to optimize stiffness, hoop strength, and torsional resistance, all in a single ply. The AXIV material resists deformation allowing the shaft to maintain consistent symmetry.
High performance UST Mamiya graphite shafts are trusted by some of the world’s top players, including UST Mamiya staff players Stewart Cink, Davis Love III and Rod Pampling.
