FORT WORTH, Texas — Overcoming desert heat, gusting winds and some of the world’s finest competitors, this week’s PGA Tour and European Tour champions trusted high-performance graphite shafts by United Sports Technologies (UST®) to win the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship.
At the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, a sophomore PGA Tour player scored his career-best finish playing a Titliest 905R driver and an Adams Idea Tour hybrid, both custom fit with UST Proforce® V2 high-performance graphite shafts. Meanwhile, UST’s Accra™ and Proforce V2 shafts heated up the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in the United Arab Emirates, taking first- and second-place.
“The Bob Hope and Abu Dhabi are two more great wins for UST graphite shafts,” says Gene Simpson, vice president of sales and marketing of UST brands. “Pro tour players demand the highest possible performance from their equipment, and our high-performance shaft technology performs phenomenally well with the sophisticated clubhead designs of today’s most renowned manufacturers.”
The innovative Proforce V2 line is a great example of that technology, says Simpson. Most of today’s larger driver and fairway wood heads position the center of gravity further away from the shaft’s center line, a design characteristic that causes more twisting pressure on the shaft. However, the V2 shaft’s low-torque design enhances shot dispersion by helping to prevent clubheads from twisting open on impact.
The Proforce V2 — unlike most shafts on the market today — utilizes a proprietary graphite fiber orientation that enables the shaft to recover faster when loaded or flexed and gives the shaft an incredibly stable feels. Combining fiber orientation with lower torque engineering and enhanced flexibility, the V2 provides unparalleled stability and consistency, and balances the tip section to launch the ball higher with increased ball speed, while the optimized torque reduces spin for superior control.
