UST Shafts Win Wachovia

FORT WORTH, Texas — For the second straight week, high-performance graphite shafts designed by United Sports Technologies (UST®) delivered game-winning results in a tightly contested PGA event. This weekend, a 14-year PGA veteran and long-time user of UST shafts played a Srixon driver, custom fit with a UST shaft featuring award-winning ‘tip technology,’ to claim victory at the Wachovia Championship and vault to No. 2 on the money list.

“The Wachovia Championship marks another dominate win for UST branded graphite shafts, and we’re very excited to celebrate the fact that three of the top four players at the Wachovia were playing UST Proforce shafts,” says Gene Simpson, vice president of sales and marketing for UST brands. “UST engineers know that in the golf industry innovation alone does not garner success. What creates success is advanced shaft technology and true innovation that produce game-winning results.”

Year after year, UST repeatedly surpasses other graphite shaft manufacturers in innovative shaft technology that excels in performance and consistency. Today, one of main reasons for UST’s heightened popularity on the pro tours has been the performance-enhancing, low-torque characteristics of the Proforce V2 which is optimized to work with today’s 400cc to 460cc driver heads.

Simpson explains that the trend in larger driver and fairway wood heads has increased hit-ability for many golfers, but in most of these larger heads, the head’s center of gravity (CG) has been moved further away from the center line of the shaft, a design factor which places more stress and causes more twisting on the shaft. The V2’s low torque design provides the power and control needed for today’s 400cc to 460cc heads. Also, because the low-torque V2 prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact, the V2 increases the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and enhances shot dispersion.

“Yet, the V2 is only one of the innovate shaft designs we offer,” adds Simpson. “Whether its our Proforce®, IROD® Hybrid, Harmon Tour Design® or Accra™ models, UST has a high-performance graphite shaft that is in-tune with your game.”
